Hit And Run Victim Rides On Hood Of Car

Man_Glass

When a person is hit by a car, they want justice. They want the person that hit them to pay for their injuries and other damages. If the crash was a crime, they want the person to face appropriate punishment.

But that can’t happen if the driver flees the accident. In a hit and run case, the driver may never be found. Then what? It’s possible that you could recover compensation from your insurance company, but it will be difficult to do so.

So how do you hold the driver accountable? You ride on the hood of their vehicle, of course. Sound a little too far-fetched? Maybe, but that is what a man did after he was hit by a 76-year-old woman. The man ended up on the hood of the woman’s car for two miles as she reached speeds of 50 miles per hour.

The hit and run crash happened at the intersection of Palm Coast Parkway and Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast on the afternoon of September 30. The driver tried to run over the victim after the two were seen arguing. The man told her that the police were on their way. As the woman tried to flee the scene, she drove toward him. The man had his vehicle blocking the woman, but the man ended up on the hood of her car.

The man hung on desperately to the car as the woman headed South on Belle Terre Parkway. A bystander who saw the argument between the man and woman followed the woman and tried to get her to pull over. He tried to get drivers to stay away from the woman’s car because he was afraid the man would fall off and get run over.

The woman was later forced off the road. She claimed she tried to stop, but was unable to do so. However, the bystander who followed her said that was not true. She had multiple opportunities to stop but refused to do so until the bystander got in front of her.

Law enforcement took the woman into custody. She was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was later released from jail on a $20,000 bond. The man survived the incident and did not suffer any major injuries.
