2 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Kissimmee

Drivers must abide by traffic laws and signals at all times. When they fail to do so, they can cause serious accidents that can even lead to fatality. This is especially true in dump truck accidents, since dump trucks are very large.

Sadly, this was recently the case in Florida. A dump truck driver failed to stop, causing a crash that killed two people. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of September 23 in Kissimmee, on U.S. 192 at Griffin Road.

A 50-year-old man from Miami was driving a dump truck on westbound U.S. 192 when he failed to stop. He drove over a median and went into the eastbound lanes of the interstate. A motorcycle rear-ended the dump truck. The motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man from Groveland, died at the accident scene. The dump truck then hit a Honda SUV.  A 19-year-old woman from Kissimmee was killed in the crash.

The dump truck driver was not injured in the accident. He faces criminal charges.

Understanding Dump Truck Accidents

Accidents involving dump trucks can be very serious in nature. These trucks are much larger than passenger vehicles, especially when they are full. Because of this, smaller vehicles can get crushed. Occupants of these vehicles can suffer serious injuries and even death. The occupants of dump trucks are not often injured, since they are in the bigger vehicle.

There are many ways in which dump truck crashes can occur. These trucks have huge blind spots and therefore have trouble seeing what is next to them. This can cause drivers to go into adjacent lanes and this other vehicles.

Dump trucks have a high center of gravity. If they are carrying a huge load, they can become imbalanced and tip over. This can cause a dump truck to dump its load onto a nearby vehicle, causing disabling injuries or possibly death.

Dump trucks are often found at construction sites, so it is not uncommon for accidents to happen there. It is important for pedestrians and bicyclists to be extra cautious in these areas, since a dump truck driver may not be able to stop and avoid an accident in time.

Dump truck crashes often result in long-term injuries. As a result, a claim can easily cost millions of dollars. Therefore, proving liability is important. The dump truck company’s insurance company will try to deny liability to avoid paying up. Accident victims and their families should work quickly to seek legal help and ensure they receive tthe compensation they deserve.
