Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Fence

Motorc2

Many motorcycle riders enjoy traveling on Florida’s roadways in the beautiful weather and abundant sunshine. While riding a motorcycle can be fun and exhilarating, it does come with many dangers. Many riders get into serious and even fatal motorcycle accidents.

A Florida man was recently killed after crashing his motorcycle into a fence. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of July 10 in Myakka City.

The 57-year-old man from Bradenton was traveling on 289th Street East, near 104th Drive East, when he lost control while going around a left curve. He went off the road and hit a wooden fence. The man, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the accident scene.

Loss of Control

Motorcycles are small but powerful and unfortunately, it is not uncommon for riders to lose control. Many riders speed and going too fast can make it difficult to slow down for hazards in the road. Many motorcyclists lose control around curves and turns because they find it difficult to judge and calculate the turn, and even the smallest miscalculation can cause them to go off the road and crash.

Loss of control can also be attributed to lack of experience. Riding a motorcycle is different from driving a car. Negotiating a turn in a motorcycle, and riding a motorcycle in general, requires balance. Plus, the controls are different. A vehicle can brake during a turn without losing control. A motorcycle cannot do this properly. Instead, the rider has to learn to slow down before entering the turn and then accelerate while in the turn. This helps keep the motorcycle upright and balanced without tipping over.

However, even experienced riders can lose control of their bikes. Road hazards such as potholes, loose gravel, and debris can cause loss of control and make the motorcycle go off the road or into an adjacent lane. Poor maintenance and uneven roads can also cause a rider to lose control. Either way, a crash can easily occur while riding a motorcycle if a rider is not alert and ready to react quickly.

Weather conditions can also cause a motorcyclist to lose control. Rain, snow, and ice can make roads slick and if a rider is not prepared, they can easily slide off the road and lose control. That’s why staying home in these weather conditions may be a good idea.

Defects or poor maintenance can also cause loss of control. When brakes or tires aren’t working properly, it can be easy for a motorcycle to not work as intended. This can cause the rider to lose control and get into a seriou crash.
